Trilakes Country Park And Jakes Soft Play

Trilakes Country Park in Blackwater offers Jakes soft play and a small farm. You can do either or both. The only stipulation is that if you do both, you must do the soft play first and can’t return to the soft play after the farm visit. Whilst we have been to Trilakes before, we haven’t visited for some time. I was actually quite impressed with the soft play at Jakes. Little man was off and away as soon as we got there and it looked as though it was kept well. He had a fantastic time and didn’t really want to leave so that we could eat our picnic in the farm.

The farm part is having some improvement being made at the moment. It was pretty quiet and as it wasn’t a “peak” time, lots of the activities weren’t running. I understand this, but it really can take away some of the enjoyment of a day out when you go out with pre schoolers.

We started by eating our picnic in the main playground. This had significantly improved since our last visit and little man gobbled his food down to go and play.

We then went and fed some of the animals. You can buy bags of food at the entrance and there are also machines where you can get a handful of food for 20p. As you walk around the animals you can stamp a card to show that you have seen them all. Little man seemed to enjoy this.

There was a large sandpit and some trikes to play on at the front of the park.

We then did the short walk around the lake. This now has play equipment dotted around which is great to encourage the children to go on a walk. There are also some fairy houses dotted around.

We had a nice day wandering around, but if we returned we would chose either the soft play or the farm to visit, purely due to costs. In all honesty it is probably the soft play that I would return for with little man.

  2. What a fab place to visit, so much to see and do for you all. It’s great that you can visit the soft play and the farm together, although I can understand why they want you to do the soft play first. Your son looks like he’s loving feeding the alpaccas from his hands, he’s lucky they were so friendly! That trike looks fab too, definitely something I’ve wanted here for a while. Thanks for linking up with me on #CountryKids.

  3. Such a lovely place! I agree that even if some of the activity is not up with kids they can still have fun by just being there =)
