Great British Summer In Skegness

running on the beach at Skegness

Skegness will always hold a place in my heart as we always try to visit there with the boys when we visit my parents. The boys love the seaside and the fact that you can get a 99 for less than a pound is an added bonus. This week, it was just me and little man who went to visit. The older boys were still at school, but as little man had graduated pre school, it was just the chance to have a little time with him and my parents.

The weather wasn’t the best. At times it felt like there was a big rain cloud just following us around. Everytime we went inside there was bright sunshine. Went on the beach and it rained! However, rain did not stop play for little man.

He had a donkey ride and was very happy with his riding skills.

We then had to go undercover for a little while, but he was happy on the penny machines and captaining his own “gup.”

We then headed for the beach whilst the rain had lifted for a while.

He had two main targets.

First was to build a sandcastle. He got Nanny helping out with that.

Second was to go in the sea.

And there was no stopping him. He was going in. He refused to keep his top on. With a hop and a skip he was splashing in the waves. Without a care in the world. Childhood at it’s best.

Then tired after a lovely day he fell asleep on the way home with a smile on his face, dreaming of his next visit to Skegness. Who needs good weather to have fun!?!

  1. It really is only us adults that are hung up about good weather, Kids can have a great time regardless. Looks like your young man knew just what he wanted from a day at the beach and a little rain wasn’t going to put him off. I adore that last photo in the waves and well done Grandma on helping with the sandcastle building. I hope you make it back again soon,
